Contractor Name or at least what they presented themselves as: James with “Storm Strong Roofing Pros”After Hurricane Ian, I hired “Storm Strong Roofing Pros” to replace my roof. They seemed legit; nice truck, nice talk, even showed me some “past work” on their phone.
I paid a 50% deposit up front, $6,800, and they scheduled me two weeks out. That was six months ago. They never showed. I called. Texted. Emailed. I got every excuse: weather delays, truck breakdown, sick family member.
I contacted the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, but apparently this guy isn’t even licensed. I later learned that the name of his company isn’t even registered.
Just wanted to post this so no one else falls for it and to remind others to please do thorough checks BEFORE hiring a roofer, not after like I did. I’m working with my credit card company now to try to get some of the deposit back.
Lesson: Always check licenses and don’t be pressured by “post-disaster urgency.” Scammers thrive in chaos.
