Hi I’m in Ohio. I had a bad experience with a company calling themselves “Your New Home & Bath”, well my elderly Dad did.

My father is 78 and recently had a stroke, so I’ve been helping him manage his finances. Back in February, he signed a contract with “Premier Home & Bath Solutions” to remodel his bathroom for accessibility with walk-in shower, grab bars, and wider doorway.

He paid them $9,200 up front. The contractor came once to take measurements, then stopped answering. I found out after the fact and tried to call myself — same result. Their voicemail is full, and the address on their website is a UPS store. Eventually the phone number said disconnected.

I filed a police report and submitted a complaint to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. I’ve also contacted Adult Protective Services because it looks like they’ve targeted other seniors but it looks like this company and the representative may have never existed. At least the names they gave.

If you have aging parents, PLEASE be proactive. My dad thought he was being “independent,” and now we’re in a mess trying to recover the money. Scammers prey on trust and politeness. Don’t give them the chance.
