I used to run my own renovation business in Spokane, WA. I took pride in doing things right… permits pulled, contracts written, inspections passed. But I saw what some other “contractors” were doing in the same neighborhoods, and it honestly made me sick.

No licensing, no insurance, paying day laborers cash, doing electrical and plumbing with zero qualifications. One guy even reused rotted framing behind new drywall in a client’s basement… they never knew. Another filled a crawlspace with junk insulation and told the homeowner it was “sealed and energy efficient.”

This industry has little oversight, and it attracts predators who know how to talk smooth. That’s why I support sites like this because if people don’t speak up, the bad ones keep profiting.
